Risk factors for postoperative delirium and subsyndromal delirium in older patients in the surgical ward: A prospective observational study

Postoperative delirium (POD) and subsyndromal (SSD) among older patients is a common, serious condition associated with high incidence of negative outcomes. However, there are few accurate methods for the early detection POD SSD in surgical wards. This study aimed to identify risk factors who were scheduled surgery ward. was prospective observational study. Study participants than 65 years, underwent urology surgery, hospitalized ward between April September 2019. Delirium symptoms assessed using Confusion Assessment Method (CAM) on preoperative day, day postoperative days 1–3 by nurses. defined as presence one or more CAM criteria absence diagnosis based algorithm.
